Validating the Rain-Runoff Kernel Function in RUNOFF against Laboratory Experiment - including super-critical laminar flows
Abstract
An attempt is made to validate the central rain-runoff algorithm in SWMM. PCSWMM is used to calibrate the kernel function and generate plots that are compared to the experimental results obtained from a laboratory rig whose impervious pavement had a 0.025 m/m slope over an area of 2.11 m2 and was 1.171 m wide. A small computational time step of 1s was used. Results indicate that the RUNOFF algorithm produces reasonable results. It is shown that supercritical laminar flow cases are included in the validation tests.
